On Saturday morning, May 14th, more than 60 members from the Lamorinda Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT) practiced their skills in the neighborhoods surrounding Lafayette's Stanley Middle School. The participants were organized into small groups to perform the search and rescue, emergency medical care and neighborhood damage surveys that would be needed following a large earthquake. Several residents in the neighborhood volunteered their properties to allow the teams to conduct actual search operations, locate mock-victims and arrange for transportation to a treatment area at the school.

Orinda Night Out/Local Date is Thursday, September 30, 5-8 p.m. 'All Around the Town'

On Thursday, September 30th, from 5 - 8 p.m., Orinda is celebrating our 3rd Orinda Night Out and no, we didn't miss the August national date. By popular demand, we have established an alternate date. In our community, the first week is August in the week of the OMPA swim finals and a very popular vacation time. Many local group leaders asked for a more convenient date.

Join your fellow Orindans and plan a potluck, an ice cream social, a happy hour, a block party or a barbeque. Any event that brings out the neighborhood is great! September is National Emergency Preparedness Month and a good time to get together and have fun.
